AEO

AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) is a certificate granted by the tax authority to economic operators who meet the following requirements to guarantee their reliability in conducting operations with the customs authorities:

• A satisfactory history of compliance with all customs requirements.
• A suitable system for managing commercial records and, where necessary, shipping records, to allow proper customs monitoring.
• Proven financial solvency
• Adequate safety levels

Since 2008, the association has set up a department specialising in processing AEO certification and preparing companies whose professional activities are subject to customs regulations in order to implement the management system necessary to meet the relevant requirements.

More than 50 companies in the sector have now been certified with the help of the Barcelona official customs brokers’ association.
